The rant of the day

Heres you chance to get it off your chest !  If you can't take it anymore let it all out !

Okay, so Steve promised his blog would be a place for us curmudgeons to rant when we just couldn't take it anymore, but then he neglected to provide a place on TOTB to do so! I am happy to see he has finally rectified this grievous omission but as often is the case for invisible old guys like us, his timing is bad.

Earlier this week I was really cranked about the misnamed "Super Committee" who couldn't find a way past their own bias and self-interest to do the job they were sent to Congress to do, represent their constituents. Then I realized, they were in fact representing their constituents, their respective political parties, the monied "job creators" (aka rich people), corporate interests and others who purchase access and influence through campaign contributions, luxury junkets and PAC's.

So I was poised to spew voluminous vitriol on the subject but here I sit at my computer on Thanksgiving realizing this is NOT the day to do so. My lovely wife is preparing a wonderful side dish and later we plan to go to our oldest daughter's house to bake one turkey and fry another (see Steve's warnings about the dangers of doing this incorrectly) and spend a lovely day with family and friends. I'm also reminded that even as a 99% 'er, I'm still blessed beyond the vast majority of humankind who are living or have lived on our glorious planet. So, I'll take some Tums, forget the crazies that make up much (but not all) of our political establishment and count my blessings. I hope all of you will do the same and remember, "don't the turkeys get you down"! Come to think of it, the turkeys get the worst of it on this day so don't be a turkey! Gobble Gobble
